Eric Lloyd Sellars

Eric Lloyd Sellars (born August 8, 1983) is an attorney currently serving as Associate General Counsel, Director, Intellectual Property at Cloudflare. He resides in Austin, Texas.

Early Life and Education

Eric was born on August 8, 1983, in Dallas, Texas, to Keith Sellars and Donna Sellars. He grew up in Garland, Texas, primarily at 302 Larchbrook and earlier at 5738 Valley Mills. During this time, his father Keith worked for the high-speed printing divisions of Siemens, which was subsequently sold to Océ and later to Canon. His mother Donna was a stay-at-home mother throughout his childhood.

After Eric and his sister Carrie had completed high school, Donna returned to work as an administrative assistant at Vanston Middle School. She has since retired from this position.

He graduated from North Mesquite High School in 2001. During high school, he was a member of the golf team, which practiced primarily at the Mesquite Municipal Golf Course. Eric has cited his time on the golf team as a highly impactful part of his early education.

Marriage and Family

Eric met Erin Sellars at Fadó Irish Pub on 4th Street in Austin, Texas following his graduation from the University of Texas. The couple married on January 9, 2009.

Family Activities

As a family, the Sellars are active members of Westlake Country Club for tennis and golf. At home, Eric frequently plays Minecraft with his children, Baker and Maxyn.

Career

Eric's professional career is centered on Intellectual Property Law. He currently serves as Associate General Counsel, Director, Intellectual Property at Cloudflare.

During his time in California (2011–2017), Eric worked as an attorney at several firms, including Wong & Rees (located across from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara) and Nicholson De Vos Webster & Elliott (located at 99 Almaden in San Jose).

Social History

During his years at the University of Texas at Austin, Eric lived with friends Brian Beal, Ryan George, Joe Sandone, and Brett Appolito. The group lived in several locations together over the course of their studies: Waterford on 24th and Leon, where Eric lived with Brian and Joe; a house on 22 1/2 St. (the full group); and Centennial apartments. After graduating, Eric, Brian, and Joe continued living together at 1007 South Congress apartments.

While living in California, Eric and Erin were frequent visitors to the San Jose Swim and Racquet Club for tennis.
