Fadó Irish Pub
Fadó Irish Pub was an authentic Irish pub located in the Warehouse District of Austin, Texas. For twenty years (1998–2018), it served as a major social hub in downtown Austin and is the historical location of the Meeting of Eric and Erin in 2006.
History
Fadó opened in 1998 at 214 West 4th Street. It was part of a small national chain known for importing authentic pub interiors from Ireland. The Austin location was divided into several themed areas, including the "shop," "cottage," and "pub" sections, each designed to mimic a specific era of Irish social life.
The pub was widely considered the premier venue in Austin for international sports, particularly Premier League soccer and rugby. It was also famous for its massive annual St. Patrick's Day block parties.
Closure
Fadó officially closed its doors on March 31, 2018, following the end of its lease. The closure was a significant moment for the Warehouse District, as the pub had been a cornerstone of 4th Street for two decades. The space was later occupied by other hospitality venues, including "The Pub" and "Coconut Club."
Sellars Family Connection
Fadó holds a central place in the family history as the site where Eric Lloyd Sellars and Erin Sellars first met in 2006. At the time, Eric was celebrating his recent graduation from the University of Texas at Austin. The meeting occurred in the late evening when a group of friends including Ryan George socialized with Erin and her group of friends.
